ASPIRING LEADERS PROGRAM

What is the Aspiring Leaders Program?

WCSS Aspiring Leaders Program is a year-long, cohort-based professional learning experience designed for WCSS personnel who have demonstrated leadership potential and have a desire to build those skills and abilities with hopes of expanding their influence. Participants will learn from educational leaders within the school system as well as partner institutions. The program will focus on the tenets of the Warrior Leadership Essentials during ten sessions, including orientation, eight learning modules, and a Capstone session. The program runs from September to May. Attendance at each session (a mixture of half-day and full-day) is required.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible to apply, you must have a minimum of 3 years of educational experience and a desire to serve in a formal leadership role. Applicants should be certified personnel in the following roles: teacher, school counselor, instructional coach, media specialist, graduation coach, and coordinator.

How do I apply?

Candidates must submit the following: 1) application, 2) written response, and 3) current resume. A complete application packet must be submitted no later than September 5, 2025, at 4:30 PM. You may access the application form via the district website. 

A completed recommendation form from your administrator/supervisor must be submitted to complete your application. It is the candidate's responsibility to request that your administrator/supervisor complete the form no later than September 5, 2025. After the selection committee reviews your application, you will be notified if you are selected to continue to the second round of the process, which will include an in-person interview. Cohort members will be selected from the second phase.

What are my next steps?

Have some conversations with your supervisor to discuss your leadership interests, experiences you hope to gain, and the skills and abilities you have demonstrated in your work with them. Be certain to read the application thoroughly, including the time commitment.  

Application and Recommendation

Candidates applying for the Aspiring Leaders Program must submit the following: 1) application, 2) written response, and 3) current resume. Once the application is complete, print, sign and email the application packet to [email protected]. Applications should be submitted electronically and must be received by September 5, 2025, at 4:30 PM.

A completed recommendation form must be submitted to complete the application process. The candidate's current principal or direct administrative supervisor should complete the recommendation no later than September 5, 2025. It is the candidate's responsibility to request that the administrator/supervisor complete the recommendation form.
