White County Public Charter School System in committed to Knowing, Valuing, and Inspiring Every Child. This past year, we saw our elementary schools named Georgia High Performing and High Progress Schools, White County Middle School named a Georgia “Breakout School”, and White County High School making U.S. News and World Reports “Best High Schools in the Nation” list. The Class of 2016 will soon be leaving White County High School and will be making their impact on the community, state and nation. White County Public Charter School System has partnered with these students along with their teachers, coaches, and parents to prepare these young people for their next steps. Our students will soon be taking our state mandated assessments and our central office and principals will beginning preparations for 2016 - 2017 school year. In White County, we are blessed with a wonderful group of teachers, staff and administrators who are actively participating in professional learning, strategic planning, school improvement and the study of student data to ensure we continue to improve student achievement.
Thanks to our community passing an E-SPLOST, construction of new Career, Technology, and Agricultural Education space is coming to our high school in the near future. In the fall, we will also be starting the construction of a new Ninth Grade Academy Building, an auxiliary gym and renovations at White County High School (a building that was completed in 1996 and needs some tender love and care). Furthermore, we will be expanding the cafeteria seating, replacing the roof and HVAC at the high school. This is such an exciting time for us.
White County Public Charter School System’s Board of Education is committed to supporting the delivery of a world class educational experience for each and every student. As a system, we will continue to strengthen the use of technology in all of our classrooms and by continuing our Chromebook One-on-One Initiative in the 9th and now, 10th grade, We are encouraging a “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) to school as students have the technology available to them at home. We have classroom IPad and Chromebook sets at each school and our teacher use these on a daily basis. The White County Public Charter School System is committed to the development of personalized learning platforms, blended learning, and the infusion of technology into every White County learning environment.
Our elementary schools have committed to improving reading instruction through the use of a balanced-literacy model which engages our students in guided reading, shared reading, independent reading, word study and vocabulary development along with guided, shared and independent writing. We are seeing results as our students are becoming better readers and writers.
We are continuing to increase rigor as we bring Advanced Placement and dual enrollment opportunities to our high school students.
We are a charter school system which values the input of our parents and community. We share school level governance with all stakeholders together to craft a common vision for our schools and our school system. As a charter system, we are committed to a transparent and continuous school and system improvement process that will prepare our students for success in a global society.
We are a good school system, but the best is yet to come. Our improvement efforts will continue to require high expectations and a positive climate for success. A culture of success and high expectations is not possible without the support of everyone in our community. This concept only becomes reality when every individual is willing to grow and foster a culture of excellence in education. We depend on all of our stakeholder groups and community partners to strategically move our school system forward during challenging times. Our Board, teachers, staff and administrators, remain committed and focused on providing all of our students with the guidance, leadership and instruction that will prepare them for success in college and careers. We are all Proud to Be Warriors!
